"Slow-movin'
Rider" Album Notes
1 SLOW-MOVING RIDER
When you hit a certain age, you can't help but think about your remaining years. With that said, there is
no time to waste! Make the most of it.
2 I LOVE YA JUST THE SAME
This is kind of a Steve Goodman type of song on acoustic guitar. He was a unique stylist and songwriter, and a treat to see live. No one, even his buddy John Prine, felt good about following him on stage.
3 WITHOUT HER TO HOLD
A song I started a while back, with plenty of Minnesota references.
4 CONFLUENCE
Desire and loneliness... It doesn't matter which comes first; they seem to feed off of each other.
5 NEW GUITAR
An homage to my new Les Paul. I wanted something that sounded heavy and Zeppelin- or Beck-like,
absent their level of dexterity of course.

6 THE GENERAL SUFFERS NO FOOLS
I met a well-known celebrity with a military/aviation background once. Kind of a jerky guy who seemed
to like being catered to and swooned over. So I made up this tale that a personality of this sort
might take on.

7 JOY RIDE
Instrumental.

8 MELANOMA BABY
A light-hearted take on a serious subject... perhaps a way of needling someone you care about who isn't
taking care of their health.

9 I'LL BE BACK SOON
I have been a big Jerry Jeff Walker fan and wanted to write something that sort of captured his style and
spirit after hearing a song he had done for his young daughter. So I wrote this with my young
sons in mind.

10 NIGHTS OF THE DARK AGES
Instrumental. This is melody I had carried around for a while, and I finally committed it to a recording
with the help of my talented pianist/composer son, Brett.
11 YOUR HEART IS WHERE LOVE GOES TO DIE
This is a dark one... I think it might have been inspired by some of Richard Thompson's recordings. It's
about a person's conscience and a conversation they might be having with themself after ending a
relationship and starting to second-guess... even to the point of wrongfully taking all the blame.

12 ECHOES OF INDIA SUITE IN C MAJOR
This is just me having some fun one afternoon with my new electronic midi instruments.
